The Sports Academy have created a unique golf coaching programme which is continually monitored, so as to assess and assist its Academy Teaching Pros to ensure the very highest standards of individual tuition are being delivered and that the programme is consistent in content and quality at every golf centre.

The Programme requires 9 hours of Guided Learning each week, usually in small groups, but with specific attention on individual development.

  • Understand and excel at golf’s basic fundamentals
  • Develop a swing that is consistent under pressure
  • Envision and execute the art of shot making
  • Master the short game
  • Read the green and putt proficiently
  • Develop and perform course management skills
  • Manage the body and mind to support the game
  • Course management and game planning
  • Titleist Performance Institute Fitness training programme

The golf programme is structured so every student receives specific instruction tailored to his or her development needs, which are monitored weekly through self-assessment and by the Teaching Pro.

In addition to the golf coaching, The Sports Academy provides the two other main ingredients that are critical for consistent tournament golf, namely golf specific fitness and psychology. Each student will be able to increase his or her core strength through our fitness-training programme, whilst our golf psychologist prepares the individual for tournament golf via motivation, imagery, effective practice and confidence.

In order to engender a broader perspective of sport in general and golf in particular, tour professionals, coaches, top amateurs and motivational speakers, will offer personal testimony and advice on golf, pressure and life at the highest level of sport through workshops and seminars.

The Golf Coaching Programme forms part of a structured programme that also provides regular competition and guidance on preparation for golf (fitness, psychology, nutrition).

The partnership between each academy student and his or her Teaching Pro is central to the student’s development, and the overall success of the programme. Strong emphasis will be placed on the Teaching Pro getting to know each student and their game well. In addition to helping hone competition skills, the role of the coaches will also be to offer advice on tournament schedules, career options and above all else to be a mentor and friend.
